 • Autauga County Master Gardeners Association – Prattvillage Garden grounds refurbishment – $1775. The Prattvillage Garden is a beautiful garden in the center of Downtown Historic Prattville. The garden is leased to the Autauga County Master Gardeners. Many visitors annually tour the garden. The Autauga Master Gardeners hold plant sales, public education workshops, and other activities in the garden. The grant will be used to refurbish the landscaping, especially the lawn, in the garden.
• Cherokee County Master Gardener Association – Container Gardens beautification project in downtown Centre – $1000. This project will be a collaborative effort with the City of Centre. The City will place twelve concrete planters on Main Street in the downtown business area, and the Cherokee County Master Gardeners will use these containers to provide education to the public on container gardening. Master Gardeners will participate in identifying the appropriate plants for plantings, purchasing of plants, soil and amendments, preparation of written materials for fliers, brochures, newspaper articles, and class education and hands-on demonstration for the project.
• Chilton County Master Gardener Association – Demonstration Garden redesign, shade garden permanent cover – $2500. The Demonstration garden was officially opened in 2016 and has been used extensively. Master Gardeners are in the garden when tours are scheduled with the Chilton Research and Extension Center. They answer questions on the site design, community involvement and plant materials. The one remaining item to be completed and installed is a permanent Shade Garden cover that will allow for the establishment of a shade garden.
